Ecology’s Air Quality Program is renewing the Air Operating Permit (AOP) for Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN), Natural Gas Compressor Station #7. GTN is located near Barstow Road, ten miles south of Ayer Junction near Starbuck in Walla Walla County, and has a corporate address of 201 W. North River Drive, Suite 505, Spokane, WA 99201. We expect to approve the draft renewal permit and will accept written comments on this action through Oct. 11, 2021.

The emission units at the facility are three natural gas fired turbines used to impart energy to the natural gas pipeline and an emergency generator powered by natural gas. Included in this renewal are the removal of an old turbine and the addition of two new turbines, resulting in a net reduction of potential emissions.

See below for ways to comment. Comments submitted by email or by mail are equally considered.

Requests to hold a public hearing may be made within the comment period. The request must include the interest of the requestor and why a public hearing is warranted. If significant public interest exists, we may hold a hearing.

Commercial and industrial businesses that emit large amounts of air pollution are required to get an air operating permit. An air operating permit is a master document that lists all of the air pollution requirements that apply to a business or industry. We issue these permits along with other clean air agencies in Washington.
