We are inviting everyone to help us determine the best way to identify overburdened communities highly impacted by air pollution.
A key part of Ecology’s charge under the Climate Commitment Act (CCA) is to ensure that overburdened communities highly impacted by poor air quality in Washington, are not left behind as we work to reduce carbon pollution. To deliver on this promise, we are working to identify which communities are vulnerable to criteria air pollution, expand air quality monitoring in these areas, and later develop plans to reduce these air pollutants.
In 2021, the Washington Legislature passed the Climate Commitment Act which establishes a comprehensive program to reduce carbon pollution and to achieve greenhouse gas limits set in state law.
The Climate Commitment Act:
Improving air quality in overburdened communities — Identifying communities highly impacted by poor air quality
Closes: Nov. 4, 2022, 11:59 p.m.
