Ecology proposes to approve Microsoft Columbia Data Centers' air quality notice of construction (NOC) application.
Para asistencia en español: preguntas@ecy.wa.gov
Microsoft Corporation – Columbia Data Center (Columbia) is an existing data center with 40 diesel generators and two banks of cooling towers.
Columbia is proposing to install six new emergency generators and is requesting to use renewable diesel as well as standard diesel for all existing and new generators. Columbia plans to voluntarily install on the generators selective catalytic reduction controls for nitrogen oxides and diesel particulate filter controls for particulate matter. Emission increases from this project include 0.50 tons per year of nitrogen oxides, 0.78 tons per year carbon monoxide, 0.11 tons per year particulate matter, 0.11 tons per year volatile organic compounds, and 0.01 tons per year of diesel engine exhaust particulate.
We determined this proposal satisfies the requirements of Chapter 173-400 WAC.
