Air Quality Notice of Construction – Opportunity to request a public comment period

Oct. 14, 2020 - Oct. 29, 2020, 11:59 p.m.

This is a public notice of an air quality permit. Ecology will hold a public comment period if one is requested.

PerforMix Nutrition Systems, located at 3126 Road “N” Northeast in Moses Lake, submitted an air quality Notice of Construction application to replace their existing natural gas boiler with a new natural gas boiler. While the size of the new boiler is larger than the existing unit (new = 3.35 MMBtu/hr), it is below the New Source Review threshold. Ecology plans to approve the application. We will hold a public comment period on a draft approval order ("air permit") only if a written request is received by Oct. 29, 2020.

Background

A notice of construction permit is required before installing a new source of air pollution or modifying an existing source of air pollution. This permit is sometimes called a "pre-construction permit" because a business must have one before starting construction or operating their business.

A notice of construction air permit limits the amount of air pollutants a business can emit.
