WTP EMF Ancillary Equipment (BOF-009) Modification

Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant

Mar. 05, 2018 - Apr. 18, 2018

This proposed Agency Initiated modification to the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) Permit would incorporate the engineering design and technical documentation to support the installation of multiple vessels, equipment, and pumps at the Effluent Management Facility at WTP.  For more information see the NWP Public Comment Page.

The Hanford Waste Treatment & Immobilization Plant (WTP) is a waste management facility under construction just outside the eastern boundary of the 200 East Area of the Hanford site. It is regulated by the Hanford Sitewide Permit. When completed, the WTP will chemically separate, treat, and immobilize the majority of Hanford’s 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored in 177 underground tanks using a process called vitrification.
