The City of Bellingham proposes to establish an umbrella mitigation bank in Whatcom County.
The proposal currently involves four separate sites totaling 607.6 acres and includes a variety of mitigation actions across the different sites. The proposal includes preservation of headwater wetlands and surrounding uplands, enhancement, rehabilitation and establishment of wetlands and riparian areas, and enhancement and preservation of associated uplands. For more information on this project, check the City of Bellingham umbrella mitigation bank’s project web page.
We and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are soliciting comments from interested parties to identify project aspects that need to be addressed during the bank review process. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, Ecology extended their public comment period from 30 to 60 days. See our wetland mitigation bank public notice web page for detailed information.
All interested parties are invited to provide comment during this public comment period. There are several ways to provide comments. You only need to submit your comments once.
