ESHB 1578 - Scope of Work

The 2019 Legislature passed The Reducing Threats to Southern Resident Killer Whales by Improving the Safety of Oil Transportation Act (ESHB 1578), which aims to prevent a catastrophic oil spill in Puget Sound.

We invite interested public, local and tribal governments, and all others to review and comment on the scope of work for an analysis of an emergency response towing vessel serving Haro and Boundary Pass, Rosario Strait and connected navigable waterways. This work is directed by ESHB 1578. We are currently developing an oil spill risk model that will be used for this analysis. Your comments will be considered before we finalize the project scope of work.
