Oil Spill Contingency Plans

Nov. 16, 2021 - Dec. 17, 2021, 5 p.m.

We invite interested public, and local and tribal governments to review and comment on significant updates to industry oil spill contingency plans.

The following plan is now available for public review:

We invite interested public, local and tribal governments to review and comment on required 5-year updates and rule implementation updates to industry oil spill plans. Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 173-182 requires oil handling facilities, pipelines, and vessels to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. These updates are required by the state’s oil spill planning regulations.

This plan update follows our initial review of the 12-month implementation requirements, submitted in January of 2021. This plan is now undergoing a final review by Ecology and our review, or comments from the public, may lead to further plan updates..
