Oil Spill Contingency Plans

June 29, 2018 - July 29, 2018

The following plan is now available for public review:

Specific changes are as follows:

  • The worst case discharge volume for vessels is being increased from 300,000 barrels to 350,000 barrels.
Ecology invites the public and local and tribal governments to review and comment on oil spill contingency plan updates. Washington Administrative Code (WAC) chapters 173-182 and 173-186 require oil handling facilities, pipelines, vessels, and railroads to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. Plan holders are required to submit changes to Ecology and updates may require a 30 day public review of the updates (Chapter 173-182-142 WAC).
