The following updates are required for 173-182-515 WAC. This is the second phase in requirement for pipelines to provide a narrative description for a geographic information planning tool that supports the plan holder in mapping and tracking spilled oil, decision making, and enhancing the recovery and removal operations. We will use oil spill drills to test the tool as outlined in the plan.

Ecology invites the public and local and tribal governments to review and comment on oil spill contingency plan updates. Washington Administrative Code (WAC) chapters 173-182 and 173-186 require oil handling facilities, pipelines, vessels, and railroads to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. Plan holders are required to submit changes to Ecology and updates may require a 30 day public review of the updates (Chapter 173-182-142 WAC).
