Oil Spill Contingency Plans

November 26, 2018 - December 26, 2018

The following plan is now available for public review:

The WSMC Vessel Oil Spill Contingency Plan provides state-required oil spill contingency plan coverage for certain vessels 300 gross tons and larger entering and operating in Puget Sound and Grays Harbor. WSMC is one of three state approved multi-vessel plans that provide the required coverage for state waters.

Ecology invites the public and local and tribal governments to review and comment on required five-year updates to industry oil spill contingency plans. Washington Administrative Code (WAC) chapters 173-182 requires oil handling facilities, pipelines, and vessels to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. These updates are required by the state's oil spill planning regulations.
