Ecology invites the public to review and comment on a proposed change to section 5.2.5 of the 2010 Cleanup Action Plan for Remedial Action Unit 3 (RAU3) for the Western Slopes area. This cleanup action will address the Western Slopes area in which surface clearance of munitions will occur. The cleanup action plan is a legal document between Ecology and Clark County that outlines the process for cleanup activities at the site. The site fact sheet provides information about the proposed amended CAP for the Western Slopes Area. RAU-3 is the portion of Camp Bonneville that addresses site-wide munitions. This is the fourth and final phase of RAU-3 to be cleaned up.
Camp Bonneville is five miles northeast of the city of Vancouver in Clark County, WA. For more than 80 years, the site was used as an U.S. Army facility. Investigations and cleanups have been ongoing to assess and remove munitions contamination and other hazardous substances.
