We want your input! We are inviting your comments on the five-year review for the Port Gamble Bay cleanup.
The five-year review is a review of the site conditions in Port Gamble Bay following completion of cleanup. The review summarizes physical, chemical, and biological information collected in Port Gamble Bay over the last five years.
The Port Gamble Bay cleanup seems to be on track to achieve objectives we set in the 2013 Cleanup Action Plan. A follow-up round of monitoring will be performed in 2026. We will use those monitoring results ensure living things are still being protected, and will report in the next five-year review, scheduled for 2027.
We conduct reviews about every five years when some contamination remains on-site after cleanup. Periodic reviews evaluate current site conditions to ensure human health and the environment are still protected.
We will review all comments received during the comment period and make recommendations for suggested changes. The periodic review will become final if no significant changes are made.
We will hold a public meeting if 10 people request one.
