Glenns Diesel

Delisting from the Hazardous Sites List

Jan. 6, 2020 - Feb. 4, 2020, 11:59 p.m.

We invite the public to comment on the delisting of Glenns Diesel.

The Glenns Diesel site is located at 14885 State Route 9 in Mount Vernon and is currently on the state Hazardous Sites List. This proposal is based on our draft No Further Action Letter that describes the site's cleanup and why we believe cleanup is complete.

Background

In 2001, contamination from diesel, cadmium, and lead were found in soil samples collected at the site. The property owners conducted a cleanup of the site under Ecology's Voluntary Cleanup Program.

The following cleanup activities were performed at the site:

  • In 2014, 3.3 tons of contaminated soil was excavated from the site, and taken to a permitted facility.
  • In 2018, an additional 290 tons of contaminated soil was excavated and taken off-site to a permitted facility.

Following excavation, 24 soil samples showed no contamination remaining above state standards in the excavation area. We believe all of the contaminated soil has been removed from the site.
