WestRock Pulp & Paper Mill, Tacoma

Air Quality Permit Application, opportunity to request a comment period

May 31, 2018 - June 15, 2018

The WestRock pulp and paper mill in Tacoma requests to upgrade its wood chip conveyer system. The new system will have belt conveyors with a dust collection cyclone specifically designed to control particulate matter (dust) emissions (air pollution). The new equipment will replace existing, less efficient equipment. The proposed project is expected to:
  • Increase chip processing by about 90 bone dry tons each day.
  • Have non-significant increases of particulate matter and volatile organic compound air pollutants.
We will hold a public comment period on a draft Notice of Construction (NOC) approval order only if a written request is received by e-mail, letter, or fax by June 8, 2018.

Visit our webpage for more information.

We issue NOC air permits to businesses to make sure Washington meets state and federal air quality requirements. This type of permit limits the amount of air pollutants a business can release (emit).
