WestRock Tacoma Pulp & Paper Mill

Air Quality Permit and SEPA Determination

June 15, 2018 - July 18, 2018

We invite you to comment on air quality Notice of Construction Order No. 15833 and the associated State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) for WestRock Tacoma's proposed wood chip screening project.

The mill has requested that we write and issue an air quality Notice of Construction Order allowing it to improve the mill's wood chip conveyor system. The new system will have belt conveyors with a dust collection cyclone specifically designed to control particulate matter (dust) emissions (air pollution). The new equipment will replace existing, less efficient equipment.

We expect an increase in pulp and paper production and some air pollutants due to this project. The pollutant increases will not exceed air quality standards.

Learn more about the project and Notice of Construction Orders/Permits.

We must evaluate the environmental impacts from the project. The SEPA review process helps agency decision-makers, the mill, and the public understand how the proposal will affect the environment.
