City of Oak Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit

Feb. 14, 2018 - Mar. 16, 2018

We invite your comments on the reissuance of the City of Oak Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant NPDES water quality permit (#WA0020567). The permit regulates the discharge of domestic wastewater into Crescent Harbor.  The city is currently constructing a new membrane bioreactor facility, named the Clean Water Facility, scheduled to start up in late summer 2018.

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities and industries using the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes directly into lakes, rivers, or the Puget Sound (surface water).  All wastewater must be treated before it goes into surface water to protect human health and aquatic life.  Learn more about water quality individual permits.
