Fishing Vessel Owners Marine Ways Inc.

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit

June 17, 2020 - July 17, 2020, 11:59 p.m.

We invite you to comment on the draft modification of permit no. WA0031062

Fishing Vessel Owners Marine Ways Inc. is a ship repair facility on the Lake Washington Ship Canal, leasing land from Port of Seattle Fishermen’s Terminal. It operates two marine ways. Process water is collected from the marine ways and hauled offsite for disposal. This permit covers discharges from the marine ways into the Lake Washington Ship Canal during ship launches, and discharges of stormwater to groundwater.

The proposed modification is to change the monitoring protocol for marine way launches from quarterly to visual for all launches and eliminate one stormwater monitoring location.

You may view the draft documents at Fishing Vessel Owners or visit the Water Quality Permitting and Reporting Information System (PARIS) website

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities and industries using the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes directly into lakes, rivers, Puget Sound, or the ocean (surface water). All wastewater must be treated before it goes into surface water to protect human health and aquatic life.
