We invite you to comment on the draft Puget Sound Nutrient General Permit.
Excess nutrients can cause too much plant and algae growth which ultimately depletes dissolved oxygen. Many parts of Puget Sound have oxygen levels that fall below the concentrations needed for marine life to thrive and concentrations that are below the state’s water quality criteria. Ecology must require Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) to control nutrients consistent with the U.S. Clean Water Act and Washington’s Water Pollution Control Act.
