Edmonds: SMP periodic review

We are seeking public comment on the city of Edmonds' proposed amendment to it's Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The public comment period will run from July 31 to Aug. 30, 2019, at 5 p.m.

The Edmonds' SMP periodic review amendment proposes to make minor changes to provisions regarding:

  • Administrative policies and regulations.
  • Critical Areas regulations SMP integration.
  • Definitions.
The SMP applies to both the in-water and adjacent upland areas, including the city's Puget Sound shoreline and Lake Ballinger.

We will compare Edmonds' proposed SMP to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison we will decide whether to:
  • Approve the program as is.
  • Approve with recommended changes.
  • Send the proposed program back to Edmonds with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
