Pacific SMP: Periodic review

Public comment requested July 15 to Aug. 14, 2019, at 5 p.m.

We are seeking public comment on the city of Pacific's proposed amendment to it's Shoreline Master Program (SMP).

The city's SMP periodic review amendment proposes to make minor changes to provisions regarding:

  • Substantial development and freshwater dock cost thresholds.
  • ADA retrofit permit exemptions, definitions, local review, and permit filing procedures.
  • Transportation project review.

The changes also clarify applicability and bring shoreline critical areas provisions and the shoreline map of environment designations up-to-date with local circumstances.

The SMP applies to both the in-water and adjacent upland ares, including the floodplain and associated wetlands along about 1.4 miles of the White River.

We will compare the city of Pacific's proposed program to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison we will decide whether to:
  • Approve the program as is.
  • Approve with recommended changes.
  • Send the proposed program back to the city with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
