On June 14, 2022, we approved the town of South Cle Elum's Shoreline Master Program (SMP) periodic review amendment.
South Cle Elum’s amended SMP is effective June 28, 2022 — 14 days after we provided notice to the town that their SMP was approved.
South Cle Elum's SMP was comprehensively updated in 2014 and regulates shoreline uses and activities along the Yakima River within town limits. The town’s periodic review amendment ensures that the SMP is current with changes in state law, changes in other plans and regulations, and other changed local circumstances. The amendments to the SMP were limited to changes to the Shoreline Management Act and our rules since the master program was last updated.
We held a public comment period on South Cle Elum’s proposed periodic review amendment to their SMP. Email was used to notify interested parties of the public comment period held May 21, 2021 to June 21, 2021.
