Clark County SMP: Amendment

Provide your comments on Clark County's proposed amendment to its shoreline program. Public comment period opens on March 7 and runs through March 22, 2018, at 5 p.m.
The proposed amendment to the Shoreline Master Program (SMP) will:
  • Adopt recent changes to the Shoreline Management Act including an exemption for retrofitting existing structures to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act; update the dock exemption; and add provisions for floating on-water residences.
  • Revise the composition of the county’s Shoreline Management Committee.
The proposed amendment will be compared to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison, we will decide whether to:
  • Approve the amendment as is.
  • Approve the amendment with recommended changes.
  • Send the proposed program back to Clark County with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
