Goldendale Shoreline Master Program

On May 1, 2018, we approved the City of Goldendale's Shoreline Master Program (SMP) comprehensive update. Under state law, Goldendale's SMP takes effect May 15, 2018, 14 days after we provide notice to the city their shoreline program was approved.

Mail and email were used to notify interested parties of the public comment period. We received comments from the Yakama Nation, Department of Natural Resources, and the Washington State Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation. The public comment and city's responses have been incorporated into Attachment A: Findings and Conclusions.

The update is needed to comply with the statutory deadline for a comprehensive update of the city’s SMP under RCW 90.58.080 and 90.58.100. This update is also needed to comply with state planning and procedural requirements under the state SMP Guidelines under WAC 173-26 and 173-27

This comprehensive SMP update will replace the city's existing SMP in its entirety. The updated SMP will regulate development along the city's shoreline which encompasses land within 200 feet of the ordinary high water mark of the Little Klickitat River, and all associated wetlands.
