Goldendale Shoreline Master Program

Public comment is closed

We held a public comment period for city of Goldendale’s proposed update to its Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The period for public comment was March 1 through April 3, 2017.

Mail and email were used to notify those who had expressed  interest and a news release was issued to encourage public participation and comment. We received multiple written comments from the Washington State Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation and the Yakama Nation Department of Natural Resources. Comments focused on a variety of topics.

Response to public comment

We prepared a summary of public comments and sent this to the city of Goldendale on May 1, 2017. The city will write a response to the public’s comments. The response to comments will be posted here when available. Please check back.

Next steps: our decision

We will compare Goldendale's proposed SMP to the requirements of the state Shoreline Management Act and our Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison, we will decide whether to:

  • Approve the programs as is.
  • Approve with recommended changes.
  • Send the proposed program back to the city with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may be included with the required changes
