Public meeting
173-950 WAC Recycling Reform Act
Aug. 19, 2026, 1 p.m. PT, Online webinar
We invite you to join a online webinar on rulemaking for the Recycling Reform Act. This webinar will be held on Aug. 19, 2026 and run from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
We are starting rulemaking for a new rule, chapter 173-950 WAC. This rule will guide implementation of the Recycling Reform Act, a law that creates an extended producer responsibility (EPR) program for materials used to package consumer goods and paper products. Washington is the seventh state to adopt a packaging EPR program - a system where producers of covered materials pay fees to fund the state's residential recycling system.
