Geothermal collaborative process
Community workshop for Wind River valley area
March 5, 2026, 5:30 p.m. PT, Stevenson, WA
We invite you to share your perspectives on geothermal energy development in Washington. Light food and drinks will be provided, and families are welcome to attend. Spanish language translation and interpretation services will also be available. The workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end around 7:30 p.m.
Background
As part of the state’s transition to clean energy, the Legislature recognized geothermal energy as a potential resource and directed Ecology to bring together communities, agencies, and organizations to discuss the opportunities and risks associated with its development. This collaborative process is intended to provide an early, thoughtful look at key issues as interest in geothermal resources continues to grow.
Ecology will host a series of three in-person workshops to share information and hear perspectives. These are focused on the three geothermal resource areas identified by the state Department of Natural Resources: Mount Baker, Mount St. Helens, and the Wind River valley south of Mount St. Helens.
