Public meeting on alternative jet fuel

This meeting will provide an update on the development of the draft programmatic environmental impact statement, which is planned for public release in January 2027.

Participants will hear about the types of facilities under evaluation and are invited to provide input on risks and concerns related to resources, as well as best practices and measures to avoid, reduce, and mitigate impacts. An overview of comments received during scoping and the facilities that will be evaluated are described in our scoping report.

Background

As directed by the Legislature, we are developing a programmatic environmental impact statement to provide planning-level impact analysis about alternative jet fuel facilities to inform future project-level development and environmental review and permitting decisions. Alternative jet fuel is a drop-in replacement for conventional jet fuel. This means it can use existing fuel distribution infrastructure and power aircraft engines without modifications. Alternative jet fuel can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions because it is made from different types of renewable resources including waste fats, oils, and greases, such as used cooking oil.
