Textile symposium

The Pacific Northwest Textile Circularity Symposium is designed to bring together community and business leaders from across Washington’s textile value chain to focus on regional perspectives.

Together, we’ll map the current landscape, identify critical gaps, build practical pathways to reduce textile waste, strengthen local production, and support community-centered solutions.

9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Follow the thread: Mapping Washington's textile ecosystem

This activity is to collaboratively map the journey of how materials enter Washington State, move through our current systems, where they bottleneck, who needs them, and how they can inform re-purpose efforts for end markets across the state.

11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. From fiber to future: Community economies beyond the market

This panel is grounded in the idea that textile systems are not just supply chains, they are social, economic, and governance systems. The goal is to move beyond theory and surface how community economies are being built through practice.

12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Lunch
1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Inside the garment: Jacket anatomy and materials

Participants will work in small groups to deconstruct a jacket and sort its materials and components into categories. The activity ends with a brief discussion to identify materials and reflect on garment construction and material usage.
  Circularity, textiles, and where we are today

Current state of textiles and their recyclability challenges.

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. What we can only do together: A circular textile strategy for the PNW

This working session brings together actors along the entire PNW circular textile value chain to identify the shared infrastructure, governance priorities, and first concrete initiatives that no single organization could develop alone.
