Pit Stop Naches

Comment on proposed removal from the Contaminated Sites List

Feb. 1, 2024 - March 1, 2024, 12 p.m.

We propose removing this site from the Contaminated Sites List because the site was not the source of contamination that was discovered.

We invite you to review the No Further Action Letter and comment on removing Pit Stop Naches, at 10121 US Hwy 12, Naches, from the list. Sites must go through cleanup and meet state standards before we can remove them from the list.

Background

This site is a gas station and convenience store. A release of petroleum was recorded in 1991 during a site investigation. Contamination was encountered around the underground storage tanks and abandoned dispenser island. The site was cleaned up using a model remedy Ecology developed for sites contaminated with petroleum.

What happens next

We will respond to all the comments we receive by March 1, 2024, and publish responses. We will hold an online public meeting if 10 or more people request it. After we consider public comments and no changes are necessary, we will move the site from the Contaminated Sites List to the No Further Action List.
