Jan. 6, 2026, 2 p.m. PT, Online Webinar
We invite you to attend an online informational presentation and public hearing for the draft 2026 Bridge and Ferry Terminal Washing General Permit and share your comments with us.
Please join us for an online public meeting and formal hearing for the draft Bridge and Ferry Terminal Washing General Permit.
We will host an online public meeting and hearing in the afternoon of Jan. 6. Ecology staff will share an informational presentation that helps explain the draft permit's proposed changes. A question and answer session will follow, then a formal public hearing. The hearing is an opportunity for formal spoken testimony on the draft permit. The event will end when testimony is done.
Spoken testimony will receive the same consideration as written comments. You can submit comments until Jan. 23, 2025.
The Bridge and Ferry Terminal Washing General Permit was developed to allow regular maintenance, cleaning, preparatory washing, and painting of bridges, ferry terminals, and associated metal structures. This permit is renewed every five years.
The current permit was last issued in June 2022 and is scheduled to expire July 31, 2027. After the comment period concludes, Ecology will review and consider all comments received. We will make appropriate revisions based on public comment, publish an official Response to Comments as an appendix to the fact sheet, and expect to make a final decision on permit issuance in summer 2026.
