Draft Release and Public Review

We ask that comments reference specific text, permit condition(s), and page number(s) in your comments whenever possible. It is also helpful if you describe the nature of your concern and propose any potential solutions or changes to permit language. The Bridge and Ferry Terminal Washing General Permit was developed to allow regular maintenance, cleaning, preparatory washing, and painting of bridges, ferry terminals, and associated metal structures. This permit is renewed every five years. 

The current permit was last issued in June 2022 and is scheduled to expire July 31, 2027. After the comment period concludes, Ecology will review and consider all comments received. We will make appropriate revisions based on public comment, publish an official Response to Comments as an appendix to the fact sheet, and expect to make a final decision on permit issuance in summer 2026.
