May 22, 2024, 12 a.m. - June 29, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

We invite you to comment on NPDES Permit Application for PUD No. 1 of Chelan County, Lake Chelan Hydroelectric Project. Permit No. WA0991050.

This application, and other available information, is for the development of a permit to discharge industrial process water to the Chelan River from its facility located at 400 Powerhouse Road, Chelan Falls, WA 98817.

All discharges to be in compliance with the Water Quality Standards for a permit to be issued. We made a tentative determination to develop and issue a proposed permit based on the effluent limitations and special permit conditions that will prevent and control pollution. A final determination will not be made until all timely comments received in response to this notice have been reviewed.

You can view the documents at Lake Chelan Hydroelectric Project documents or visit the Water Quality Permitting and Reporting Information System (PARIS) website.

Background

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities and industries using the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes directly into lakes, rivers, Puget Sound, or the ocean (surface water). All wastewater must be treated before it goes into surface water to protect human health and aquatic life.
