City of Chehalis shoreline master program: comprehensive update & periodic review
The comment period for the city of Chehalis' combined comprehensive shoreline master program (SMP) update and periodic review amendment is now closed.
We held a public comment period on the city of Chehalis' proposed update to its SMP, including amendments to satisfy the periodic review requirement. The period for public comment was from Feb. 12 to March 16, 2025.
Email notices were used to notify those who had expressed prior interest. Three (3) written comments were received, including comments from one state agency, one environmental organization, and one individual.
Response to public comment
We have prepared a summary of public comment and sent this to the city on March 18, 2026. The city will write a response to the public's comments. The response to comments will be posted here when available. Please check back.
Next steps: our decision
We will decide if the city of Chehalis' proposed SMP update meets the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. We will decide whether to:
- Approve the program as is.
- Approve with recommended changes.
- Send the proposed program back to the City with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
