Draft cleanup plan and site studies

Aug. 3, 2026, 12 a.m. - Sept. 13, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PT

This is a working agricultural distribution site where past handling of fertilizers and pesticides released harmful chemicals into the soil and groundwater.

Multiple cleanup documents are now available for public comment.

  • The remedial investigation describes the types of contaminants and where they are.
  • The feasibility study outlines options for cleaning up the site.
  • The draft cleanup action plan describes Ecology's proposed cleanup. The proposed cleanup includes injecting chemicals into soil and groundwater to oxidize contamination, and installing a permeable underground barrier. The barrier will let groundwater pass through, but trap contamination so it can’t leave the site.
  • The State Environmental Policy (SEPA) checklist explains how cleanup activities may impact the environment.

Some of the documents have multiple parts. Please see the Simplot Soilbuilders Sunnyside cleanup webpage to download the documents and read more about the site.
