Inadvertent Discovery Plans outline what to do if workers unexpectedly discover human remains, or historic or prehistoric resources, while working on a project. Ecology cleanup grant recipients must fill out an inadvertent discovery plan before breaking ground on a project.

Cleanup project: Clean Earth Burlington
Clean Earth/Burlington, located within the Port of Camas in Washougal, WA, is currently undergoing a formal dangerous waste cleanup process at their site. The company is publicly known as Clean Earth, legally named Burlington Environmental, and is a subsidiary of PSC Environmental Services.

Burlington Environmental-Georgetown, Seattle cleanup site
Burlington Environmental-Georgetown in Seattle consists of two sites, one to the east of Fourth Avenue South (known as “East of 4th”), and one to the west (known as “West of 4th”)

Cleanup site: Columbia Gorge Aluminum
Located in Goldendale, next to the Columbia River, the Columbia Gorge Aluminum aluminum smelter closed in 2003. Since 1980, the site has been used for managing hazardous and solid waste.

Cleanup site in Yakima county is the former location of zinc micronutrient fertilizer manufacturer, removing hazardous substances from the soil and groundwater.

Cleanup site: Hexcel Corp Structures, Kent
Hexcel is part of the BSB Diversified (BSB) cleanup site in Kent, which includes three separate properties: BSB; J.H. Carr & Sons, Inc.; and, Hexcel Corporation Kent-Plant. Hexcel was a metal finishing and electroplating plant.

Cleanup site: International Paper Longview
International Paper has used this facility in Longview for treating wood products. Their activity has resulted in the need for both soil and groundwater cleanup work.
