The former International Paper Company property, now owned by the Port of Longview, is the site of historic wood treatment operations. The soil and groundwater have been contaminated with dangerous chemicals such as diesel-range organics, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and pentachlorophenol (PCP).

Occidental Chemical Corporation’s Tacoma cleanup site is located in the Tacoma tide flats, along the Hylebos Waterway. Contamination from this site is in the groundwater and soil. The contaminants that are of most concern are chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs).
