Ecology and the Coast Guard responded to a fishing vessel that ran aground on the south jetty at Grays Harbor around 1:45 a.m. on June 6.

The Coast Guard rescued two crew shortly after receiving the distress call. The fishing vessel JB sank in 15-feet deep water after the Coast Guard pulled it off the rocks and was towing it to land.

Ecology’s spill responders arrived at daylight to assess the situation. Ecology and the U.S.C.G. contracted with Global Diving to assess how much fuel and oil could be onboard. The contractors were able to remove about 190 gallons of product.
