Organics management, Chapter 173-350 WAC

Rulemaking public comments

We are starting the rulemaking process to update Washington's organic materials management regulations under Chapter 173-350 WAC Solid Waste Handling Standards.

We are considering standards to address contamination in food waste feedstocks and finished products such as compost. We're also considering amendments to cover additional organic materials management practices.

We will hold an informal comment period from June 24 – Aug. 3, 2025. We invite you to comment on what aspects of organic materials management we should address in rule.​
