Webinar #4: Fastening the Textile Community
Textile webinar series
May 15, 2025, 10 a.m. PT, Online webinar
We aim to unify and empower stakeholders across levels to advance textile policy and collaboration, driving actionable steps for advocacy and ongoing community engagement in Washington and beyond.
The textile industry is responsible for approximately 2 – 8 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and textiles are the fastest growing materials in the U.S. waste stream. This linear system incentivizes fast fashion, cheap labor and environmental impacts, resulting in 85 percent of textiles being landfilled or incinerated each year.
Ecology’s Recycling Market Development Center has invested in research and building connections with leaders in the textile industry. In this four-part textile webinar series, we weave the global complexities into a local and regional context.
