Comment on a plan for cleaning up some of the contamination at this site.
The Interim Action Work Plan describes how some of the contamination at the DeBocks Main Street Texaco cleanup site will be cleaned up.
Background
For many years, these properties operated as gas stations and service centers. Over the years, leaks and spills of gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum products occurred at this site. These substances seeped into the soil and groundwater, leading to pollution that needs to be cleaned up to keep the community and environment safe.
Contamination was first discovered during the removal of underground storage tanks in 1995. Since then, environmental samples have confirmed the presence of petroleum contamination in soil and groundwater throughout the site. Contamination from three separate properties is combining to create the current polluted site. Initial efforts have been made to excavate polluted soil and to remove liquid petroleum products from the groundwater. Additionally, a network of wells across the site are being used to monitor groundwater contamination.
