Evening Online Informational Presentation and Q&A

Aquatic Plants and Algae Management General Permit

Oct. 14, 2025, 6 p.m. PT, Online Webinar

We invite you to attend the online informational presentation for the draft 2026 Aquatic Plants and Algae Management General Permit and share your comments with us.

You are invited to join us for an online public meeting and formal hearing for the draft Aquatic Plant and Algae Management General Permit.

We will host an online public meeting and hearing in the evening of Oct. 14. Ecology staff will share an informational presentation that helps explain the draft permit's proposed changes. A question and answer session will follow, then a formal public hearing. The hearing is an opportunity for formal spoken testimony on the draft permit. The event will end when testimony is done.

Spoken testimony will receive the same consideration as written comments. You can submit comments until Oct. 24, 2025.

The Aquatic Plant and Algae Management General Permit (APAM) provides coverage for the chemical treatments of aquatic noxious weeds, native nuisance plants, algae, and phosphorous. This permit protects Washington’s waters and aquatic life by controlling the discharge of pollutants into fresh water (lakes, streams, and rivers) or along shorelines, roadsides, dikes/levees, and ditch banks.

The current permit was last issued in March 2021 and is scheduled to expire March 21, 2026. After Ecology receives and considers all public comments, we will prepare a response to comments and describe any changes to the draft permit. Ecology expects to make a final decision on the general permit February 2026.
