In-person Informational Presentation & Public Hearing

The event

We are hosting an in-person informational presentation and public hearing during the afternoon of April 24. The presentation will explain the draft permit's proposed changes and answer questions prior to the public hearing. The hearing provides an opportunity for formal oral testimony on the draft permit. The public hearing will begin immediately following the presentation and will conclude when testimony is complete.

Free visitor parking is available in an open, marked lot to the left of the agency parking garage. Carpooling is encouraged. Registration is not required but appreciated. Please email kendra.henderson@ecy.wa.gov by April 16 for planning purposes.

The draft permit and supporting documents are available for review on the Construction Stormwater General Permit webpage. You can submit written comments until 11:59 p.m. on May 9, 2025. Oral testimony will receive the same consideration as written comments.

The permit

Stormwater runoff from construction site activities disturb the land and, when it rains, can carry muddy water, debris, and chemicals into local waterways. Sediment, chemicals, and debris can harm aquatic life and reduce water quality.

The Construction Stormwater General Permit assures that operators of regulated construction sites develop stormwater pollution-prevention plans and implement sediment, erosion, and pollution-prevention control measures to protect the waters of Washington.

Public involvement

The current permit was last issued Jan. 1, 2021 and is scheduled to expire Dec. 31, 2025. Our public comment period invites you to provide input directly to Ecology. After the close of the public comment period, we will prepare a response to comments, describe any changes to the draft permit, and decide on permit reissuance. We expect to reissue the final permit late 2025.
