Announcement of Availability of Draft Permit Modification
We invite your comments on draft modified permit WA000825 for Inland Empire Paper Company located in Spokane County. The permit authorizes the discharge treated industrial wastewater to the Spokane River. The modification will extend the compliance schedule for meeting its wasteload allocation for total phosphorus and CBOD5 through the end of the 2027 compliance season.

Background
We regulate wastewater released from municipalities and industries using the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes directly into lakes, rivers, Puget Sound, or the ocean (surface water).
