We invite your comments on draft State Waste Discharge permit ST0501324 being issued to Simplot Feeders Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) located in Walla Walla County.

El Departamento de Ecología del Estado de Washington desea escuchar los comentarios del público acerca de un permiso de agua limpia actualizado para Simplot Feeders, el corral de engorde vacuno más grande del estado de Washington.

Ecología realizará una audiencia pública virtual sobre el permiso donde los asistentes podrán escuchar una presentación de Ecología, hacer preguntas y proporcionar sus comentarios verbalmente si lo desean. Ofreceremos servicios de interpretación al español.

The permit authorizes Simplot Feeders to apply wastewater and manure to evaporation ponds and 14,000 acres of agricultural production fields owned and leased by Simplot for cattle feed production.

  • After the close of the comment period, Ecology will review and respond to all comments.
  • We will respond to comments and finalize permit and fact sheet.
  • The response to comments will be attached to the final fact sheet document

Simplot Feeders LLC is a cattle feeding operation that operates a 705-acre feedlot with the capacity to house up to 100,000 head of cattle at a time. Simplot Feeders applies wastewater and manure to evaporation ponds and 14,000 acres of agricultural production fields owned and leased by Simplot for cattle feed production.

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities or industries using the State Waste Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes into the ground (groundwater) or to a publicly owned treatment works (POTWs).  Learn more about water quality individual permits.
