Wastewater Discharge Permit - State Waste Discharge Permit

We invite your comments on the draft modified permit no. ST0007367, Whatcom County Water District.

This modification is being issued to the Whatcom County Water District No. 13 Wastewater Treatment Plant. The proposed modification includes a compliance schedule that allows the District time to make facility improvements necessary to meet the original permit's groundwater enforcement limits for Nitrate and Sulfate and new interim Nitrate and Sulfate groundwater enforcement limits for the time period before the necessary facility improvements are completed.

Background

We regulate wastewater released from municipalities or industries using the State Waste Discharge Permit. This permit regulates wastewater that goes into the ground (groundwater) or to a publicly owned treatment works (POTWs).  Learn more about water quality individual permits.
