Zostera japonica Management General Permit

You are invited to join us for an online public workshop and formal hearing for the draft Zostera japonica Management General Permit.

We are hosting the online workshop and hearing on the afternoon of December 30. The workshop will explain the draft permit's proposed changes and answer questions prior to the formal public hearing. The hearing provides an opportunity for formal oral testimony on the draft permit. The public hearing will begin immediately following the workshop and will conclude when testimony is complete.

Oral testimony will receive the same consideration as written comments. You can submit comments in the following ways until Jan. 14, 2025:

Background

The Zostera japonica Management General Permit provides statewide NPDES coverage for the use of the herbicide imazamox to control the non-native eelgrass Zostera japonica on commercial clam beds in Willapa Bay. The permit limits the discharge of pollutants to surface waters under the authority of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1251) and limits the discharge of pollutants to surface and groundwater under the authority of the State Water Pollution Control Act (Chapter 90.48 RCW).
