Shoreline mapping

Puget Sound shoreline photo collection underway through fall 2025
Our 360-degree on-the-water photo collection is now underway through fall 2025. Ecology contractors are collecting images in Puget Sound using small vessels equipped with a pole-mounted 360-degree camera system. Read below for more information.
We collect shoreline imagery and conduct regular geospatial mapping of the Puget Sound shoreline. State law requires that we provide the following shoreline data:
- 360-degree on-the-water photos
- Georeferenced, oblique shoreline photos
- A shoreline condition survey dataset
These three types of data will be updated every two years and available through web-based data viewers. The data covers all state inland marine waters including Puget Sound, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hood Canal, and San Juan Islands.
