Ecology was notified by Clark Regional Emergency Service Agency this morning at 5:20 a.m. that Clark County Fire was responding to a rail trestle fire. The trestle spans Curtain Creek close to the intersection of 87th Avenue and 119th Street, near Orchards, WA.
An Ecology Spill Responder went to the fire scene and assessed impacts to Curtain Creek and associated marsh. Fire fighting foam and some trestle debris were in the creek and marsh area. Clark County Public Works had deployed sorbent boom to contain the foam and debris to the area near the trestle.
At this time, it does not appear that significant environmental damage has occurred. The Southwest Clean Air Agency was notified. Clark County Fire is investigating the cause of the blaze that was first reported at about 4:20 a.m. this morning.
