Golden Gardens tugboat grounding

The tugboat Gene Dunlap is currently being towed off the beach at Seattle’s Golden Gardens Park to the FOSS shipyard in Seattle. The tug was intentionally grounded today at approximately 7:45 a.m. when it began taking on water while it was being towed to Everett.
Workers with Global Diving and Salvage patched the leak.
The tug has an estimated that 34,000 gallons of diesel on board.
Ecology is part of a coordinated response that includes U.S. Coast Guard, Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Department and the tug company, Dunlap Towing.
