Our recycling programs

We have recycling programs dedicated to product stewardship (sometimes called Extended Producer Responsibility), and others focused on Washington's recycling markets and infrastructure.

Product stewardship programs

Product stewardship, sometimes called Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), places the focus on producers of materials that are impactful to the waste system and environment. The idea is that producers need to fund management of their product material, not just at the manufacturing stage, but also at the end of its useful life.

At Ecology, we have programs dedicated to overseeing product stewardship for priority products:

Electronics recycling: E-Cycle Washington
A free program for recycling broken, obsolete, or worn-out electronics.

Paint recycling: PaintCare
Free recycling of architectural paint.

Mercury lights: LightRecycle
Free mercury lights recycling.
